Accessibility & Functional Living Review

$1,495.00

Design that supports real people—not just guidelines.

This service is designed for families or individuals who want a knowledgeable, experienced professional to review plans through the lens of a specific functional need, such as (but not limited to):

  • Mobility and wheelchair use

  • Autism and sensory sensitivity

  • Visual or hearing impairments

  • Cognitive or developmental needs

  • Temporary or long-term care situations

I evaluate how the home will actually function day to day, considering layout, transitions, finishes, lighting, acoustics, and usability—always balancing function with comfort and aesthetics. It’s designed for families who want confidence that their home will truly support the people living in it—not just meet minimum standards.

What’s included:

  • Plan review focused on your specific needs

  • Circulation, room relationship, and transition analysis

  • Finish, lighting, and sensory considerations

  • Practical, prioritized recommendations

  • Clear feedback you can share with your builder or design team

Preparation Requirements:

To ensure a productive session, the following materials must be submitted at least 72 hours in advance:

  • PDF floor plans

  • Relevant elevations or images (if available)

  • Inspiration images (optional but helpful)

  • A short written description outlining:

    • Goals

    • Concerns

    • Specific functional need and limitations concerning design

Missing submissions may result in forfeiture or rescheduling of the session.

What this is (and isn’t):
This is not medical advice or a code certification. It’s an experience-based design review grounded in commercial accessibility standards, construction reality, and real life. This service does not include plan revisions - this is a review only.

Next Steps:
Once your review is complete, we can discuss the best approach to update your plan (if needed), so it functions perfectly for your family’s needs. Plan revisions can be quoted as an additional service by GOAT Homes for a turnkey solution if desired.
