If you purchase a GOAT Homes house plan, optional add-on services allow you to tailor it to your site, lifestyle, and long-term needs. These include plan revisions, accessibility optimization, finish selection guidance, and updated renderings—so the home you build truly reflects how you live.

Experienced eyes on your plans—before it’s expensive to change them.
The core of GOAT Homes is residential design support—floor plan reviews, consultations, and functional living evaluations that prioritize livability, accessibility, and long-term adaptability, whether you purchased a plan from us or not. Universal design and aging-in-place considerations are thoughtfully integrated into every residential review, whether you’re building new, renovating, or planning for the future.
Maybe something feels off but you can’t quite name it. Maybe you’re wondering how the house will actually function day to day. Or maybe everything looks good on paper, but you’re about to make a major financial commitment and you want a second set of experienced eyes before moving forward - that’s exactly what Floor Plan Reviews are for.
I review newly designed residential floor plans with a practical, lived-in lens: how people move through the home, how spaces relate to each other, and how the design will support real life—not just today, but years down the road. Universal design, accessibility, and aging-in-place considerations are thoughtfully layered in where they make sense, without making the home feel clinical or overdesigned.

GOAT Homes also offers:
Commercial Design Refresh for small offices, retail spaces, studios, and mom-and-pop businesses needing guidance on durable, commercial-appropriate finishes and furnishings
Student Tutoring & Academic Support for interior design and interior architecture students seeking help with software, studio projects, and technical coursework
These services are visually separated to clarify scope, but are grounded in the same thoughtful, experience-based approach.

All sessions are virtual.
Each service is designed to be thoughtful, focused, and genuinely helpful. Depending on the session you book, you’ll be asked to share plans, images, or a brief description of your questions ahead of time. This allows me to review everything in advance, mark up drawings when appropriate, and come prepared—so our time together is efficient, meaningful, and worth your investment.
Before we meet, I take time to:
Review the plan as a whole and room by room
Identify opportunities to improve flow, proportion, and everyday function
Consider long-term usability and aging-in-place details that are often overlooked
Thoughtfully address the questions and concerns you’ve shared
During our virtual session, we’ll walk through everything together in a clear, approachable way. I’ll explain what I’m seeing, why it matters, and what options you have—without jargon, pressure, or overcomplication. When helpful, I’ll sketch directly over the plan so you can see potential improvements, not just hear about them.
You’ll leave the session with clarity, confidence, and a stronger understanding of your design—whether you decide to move forward as-is or make thoughtful adjustments.
Your Questions, Answered
-
No. All consultation and review services are available to anyone building or renovating a home—regardless of where your plans or finishes come from. GOAT Homes plans and finish packages simply offer an additional option for clients who want a thoughtfully designed starting point.

Yes. Builders and architects play a critical role in structure, code compliance, and execution. GOAT Homes focuses on how your home will actually function in daily life—over time, through change, and across different stages of living. Many clients use these services alongside their builder or architect as an added layer of clarity and confidence. GOAT Homes also brings a dedicated focus on aging-in-place, universal design, and accessibility—areas that are often under-considered in typical residential projects.
-
Absolutely. These services aren’t about age—they’re about reality. Accidents, injuries, caregiving needs, and life changes don’t follow a timeline. Planning ahead creates flexibility and peace of mind, no matter where you are in life.
-
Not at all. While accessibility and aging-in-place principles are thoughtfully integrated, many clients book services simply to improve flow, functionality, and long-term livability. Universal design benefits everyone—it’s about creating homes that work better for real life.
-
No. Accessibility doesn’t have to look medical or obvious. The goal is thoughtful, subtle design that feels intentional, comfortable, and beautifully integrated—not institutional.
-
Yes. All recommendations are practical, clearly explained, and grounded in real-world construction experience. Feedback is designed to be builder-friendly and easy to discuss or implement.
-
It can—but it doesn’t have to. Some clients use GOAT Homes services as their primary design guidance, while others use them as a supplement to a builder, architect, or interior designer. You choose the level of support that fits your project.
-
No. GOAT Homes provides professional design guidance informed by commercial accessibility standards, construction best practices, and lived experience. These services do not replace medical advice, legal review, engineering, or formal code certification.
-
If you’re investing significant time and money into your home, a knowledgeable second set of eyes can help prevent costly mistakes—and frustrations that are far harder to fix once construction begins.
